2013 Anime

Moving swiftly on, here's some of my favourite ending themes of the year. This list was a lot harder to put together, much closer competition

Once again, picture not relatedmade me laugh, though~12:

The number 12 spot could have gone to any number of themesI forget how many times I changed my mind before settling with that of Kyousougiga. As with Phi Brain in the OPs, the deciding factor may simply have been the fact it's new, and I'm listening to it a lot at the moment.

This fabulous theme had to make it onto the list somewhere! Certainly one of the better ED sequences of the year when accompanied with the animation and the dancing, but I don't find myself listening to it much as a song in its own right, hence the low ranking.

Valvrave again~ I was spoilt for choice a bit, what with the series and its currently airing sequel featuring four different ED themes between themall of them good. But as with the OPs, it seems that original is best!

Obligatory Engrish representative. I loved the fansub groups' attempts to make sense of the words. "So will I be lover~"? Not that I could do better, it just sounds like "shooby dooby daawah" to me. Still enjoy listening to it, though.

Probably the only good thing I had to say about Red Data Girl by the end of the series was that at least the ED theme sounded nicethis is Itou Masumi's second time in my Top 12 ED lists, the first being last year's ending theme forJinrui wa Suitai Shimashita, of course.

This year's obligatory moe-meets-military offering got mixed ratings from me week by week, but the one constantly good thing about it was this ED theme. I mean, the lyrics actually feature the words "Rambo-chan"!

This upbeat, catchy ending theme hasn't been fitting the overall darker, more serious mood of recent Samumenco episodes, has it? That's about the only negative thing I have to say about it though, the song itself is fantastic.

Bumped this up a few places at the last minute, after listening to it again while searching for the video linksI honestly prefer this to the opening theme, and fortunately, the full version is just as good!

About the only ED sequence that can claim to be more fabulous than that of UtaPri, and I also like it enough to listen to it on my mp3 player. A lot. Probably on a daily basis since this summer.

Continuing with the water themeNagi no Asukara's ending theme is just lovely, and one of my favourite songs to relax tothough there's something quite melancholy about it too. Definitely goes well with the series.

This one I like for pretty much the same reasons as Aqua Terrarium - it's somehow relaxing and haunting at the same time. I still play it regularly almost a year on. Helps that I was already a fan of her music from Spice and Wolf II, Outlaw Star and Tokyo Underground.

And finally, this one is just haunting. It, and the memories of the series itself, still send chills down my spine. What? I didn't say I was including themes from 2012 anime that carried on into this year? Well I am. The fact that only one made either of my lists just shows how much I dislike it when themes change halfway through a seriesexcept in rare cases like this.Next post up will likely be my Week 10 Autumn Anime rankings, but expect more "Best of 2013posts later this month!
